Day 11 Shelby to Havre MT

De Plains De Plains. Yesterday was spent in the foot hills and today was the beginning of the flats. The team was grateful for the subtle hills of central Montana which made it just a bit easier to cover the 105 miles to Havre (pronounced Haver) in a little over six hours.
The day started out cool with some clouds, but by the ten a.m. pit stop/nap the clouds had burned off and the temp was rising to a comfortable high in the low seventies. Once the clouds burned off the wind picked up, fortunately it was light, and unfortunately it was a head wind. Being light as it was it still seemed to drop the average two to three mph. Tomorrow they are forecasting winds at 20-25 mph from the southeast; I don’t have the heart to tell the cyclist yet. We’ll just let them get a good nights rest. Some words of encouragement may be in order.
We want to thank Nikki Carlson of the Havre Daily News for covering the arrival of team THF in Havre, and we look forward to seeing Bill and Dick’s comments and pictures in the Daily News tomorrow
The cyclists are very thankful to have two great rooms donated by The Town House Inns of Havre, and I am even more thankful to have a non-snoring room. After a hearty dinner the team was able to soak there sore muscles in the hot tub, then it was to the room to ice and heat some of specific ailments.
Dick and Bill would like to give a big and hearty thank you to all those who have been able to donate money, time, support and encouragement. They may be the ones pedaling but they couldn’t have made it without you.
